Science Garden

we are reimagining the science garden!

Did you know that studies have shown that when kids spend time learning outside it positively affects their brains and bodies?

That’s why we are revitalizing and reimagining the Walt Disney Garden into an Outdoor Learning Classroom! Our Science Garden and Outdoor classroom was originally started in 2012 with a grant from the Alliance for a Healthier Generation. Our redesign includes weed management, smart irrigation, thoughtful plantings, and multiple learning spaces for all grades. We are confident our new Walt Disney Garden will make us all proud and offer an amazing area for our children to grow.

We need your help!

We will be fundraising, seeking community donations, and have support from PTA and DESEF, but we need to keep our expenses down!  It’s going to be a year or longer to get to the finish line, but here are some ways to help right away:

  1. Please join us Saturday, November 16 for Demo Day!  Please sign up and lend a hand.  All levels of experience welcome but because of the nature of the job, only parents and children age 8 or older can be in the Garden area this day. (Younger siblings are welcome to play on the playground.) It’ll be fun and dirty!

  2. Please contact us ASAP (  if you know someone or are someone experienced in landscape or construction work or materials who is willing to donate their time or materials. We are looking to leverage the skills, expertise, and connections within our Walt Disney community. We’d love to have their/your help.

Please let us know if you have any questions and thanks in advance for your kind support.

Garden Quote

A garden is a grand teacher. It teaches patience and careful watchfulness; it teaches industry and thrift; above all it teaches entire trust.
